Window Shopping: Carnaby Streak
I am really sad to say I don't remember where I found this shop, but I am so excited I did! The Carnaby Streak is all about keeping the 60s mod style alive. They have so many adorable dresses and they are made-to-order. Made-to order!!! You pick the design you like, then the colors, and you can even get custom sizing. Plus, they are affordable! Some dresses are 50 GBP, which is around 75 USD, and that is totally worth it for a handmade dress. I will definitely be buying one in the near future for summer! Check these out and imagine all the color possibilities!
Ahhh! They are so cute! I wouldn't mind having one of those scooters either. That's another summer accessory I need here in the Twin Cities.
Hope you're having a good day! Got all my groceries and getting ready for my first snow emergency!

Congratulations!
You must have incredibly good luck, because I remember you saying you won a ton of giveaways not too long ago! Random.org loves you!
I'm thinking about a lot right now. Thinking about how I have no college and how expensive it is. Thinking about joining the National Guard and getting back with the military. I miss it, plus, the full payment of a real college would be amazing and so would retiring in 20 years. I hope you stick around as I'll be posting every now and then to keep up with this thing. I did start is so I wouldn't quit it.
So, good-bye for now! I hope you hear from me soon!

A Little Quiet
I know things have been a little quieter than normal for the last couple of days. I got my grades back from school, and it was not good news at all. I've been put on academic probation for a month and if I don't improve I'll have to withdraw. Sigh. Its my own fault. I'm not interested in it, so I have given up. I really need to change that attitude. Its so hard, though! I'll try to post every now and then, but it may not be for awhile! I will, however, announce the winner of the necklace tonight for the giveaway. Thanks for understanding and I'll be back when its Spring!!!

Last 5 Pins
Its been awhile since I have done a Last 5 Pins post. Plus recently I have had no motivation to do anything very fun. I was sick, then both kids were sick, and now the husband is sick. I'm pretty sure the littlest is getting it again! Ugh! Anyways, here's the pins! Click picture for my sources!
How adorable are these heels! I love them! I need to get them by the time spring is here, because I am going to wear the hell out of them!
We're toying with the idea of getting a kitten for my daughter. Honestly its hard not to want a cat with all these blogs with pictures of them. Especially the ones of them dressing up! But this pod style cat bed is awesome!
Sigh. This is so pretty!!! I never thought that shade of orange and blue would go together, but it totally does!
I love really simple dresses that don't have a lot of flare or fabric. This one is so cute... and that scooter is really awesome.
And anyone who can appreciate this reference is awesome. Jarith, I would have let you have power of me.
Hope everyone's week is going good! Don't forget to enter the giveaway if you haven't already! You had until Wednesday night at 12:00 am!

Mid-Century Monday: Credenzas
I think one of my favorite pieces of furniture is a credenza. Its a great place for storage and also the perfect place to display all your favorite things! I have been looking all over the Twin Cities and have yet to find one in my price range. There is a local vintage store that I follow on Facebook called Golden Age Design that has found some on the side of the road in perfect condition! Why would you put a beautiful piece of furniture like this on the side of the road to go to the dump?! That makes me cry! It really makes me want to drive through every neighborhood in the metro area and try to find my own. That would be hilarious if I found one, because the only people I would have with me are my two daughters that are both under 3. I would have to stake the place out until my husband was able to get there and help! It would so be worth it. I am in love with the first one. Teak is such a lovely color of wood! Which is your favorite?

Everything and Bacon Cookies!
I made these beauties the other day... As in 3 days ago. There were 24 cookies, my husband ate one, and I had the rest. There were only two cookies left when I took these photos! Whoops! That is how good they are! This is my favorite cookie recipe in the whole entire world. Its such a good mix of sweet and salty, and... well... meat. The good thing about this is that most of the things will already be in your cupboard!
The Recipe
4 Strips of Bacon, cooked, cooled, and pulled into dime sized pieces
1 Stick of Butter
1/2 c. Peanut Butter (or three big spoonfuls which is how I measure!)
1/2 c. Packed Brown Sugar
1/2 c. Sugar
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 Egg
1 c. Flour
1/2 c. Oatmeal
1/2 c. Chocolate Chips (I usually double this!)
1. Cook your bacon in a skillet on medium heat until done. Set aside on a paper towel to cool.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Soften the butter however you choose. I put it on a small plate for 30 secs in the microwave. Mix the butter and peanut butter together in a medium or large mixing bowl. Next add the brown sugar and sugar and mix everything all together. Stir in baking soda, salt, and vanilla and mix. Beat in egg. Add the flour and mix, then add your oatmeal and chocolate chips and mix.
3. Pull bacon apart in dime size bits then add to your dough and mix together.
4. Grease a cookie sheet and place small spoon fulls on it and smash them down. Make sure there is enough room to let the cookie grow! (although, I have made them where the whole pan turns into one big cookie, and it is still really good!)
5. Bake in the oven for 11 minutes or until brown. When they're done, let them cool for 15 minutes, then eat!!!
Well, there you have it. Just in time to make for your Valentine!!! Enjoy!
This recipe makes enough cookies to fill two cookie sheets. If you fill one, you can stick the dough in the refrigerator for another day! Just let it thaw a little before you start putting the cookies on the pan!

Back to the Future
I came across these photos awhile ago and they still amaze me so much. Photographer Irina Werning has recreated old vintage photographs to a T in this collection called Back to the Future. Everything in them is so much like the original its insane! Even down to the blurriness and exposure. These are so adorable and really make me want to try and do some myself. I really doubt I could get as close as she as done. I love the little nerdy guy and his older self!!! Which do you like?
If you would like to try it yourself and want to show the world, go to Young Me/Now Me and submit your photos!

Mid-Century Monday: Sofas
I've been browsing around the internet lately looking for a new couch. My dog has taken over the love seat and it is pretty much ruined. I would love to get a real mid century couch, so then there's no way my husband would let the dog on it. Money here is pretty tight right now so I'll just keep swooning over all these pretty places to sit.
I love that 60s green plaid couch. It was actually for sell in Minneapolis for $375. Not too much, but still couldn't convince the husband. But too late now, cause someone bought it! Ugh! Oh well. I'm learning the Twin Cities has a pretty awesome selection for vintage items, so I'll be able to get my couch one day! Which is your favorite?

Choco-Salty-Caramel Bars
It has been awhile since I have done a recipe. I guess I didn't have anything really good until I cooked these bars. When you see the ingredients you will know why. These are Choco-Salty-Caramel Bars and they are so sweet, your teeth will feel a little fuzzy afterwards. Sorry if that's gross, but that is how sweet they are! I can only eat one at a sitting. That is probably a good thing 'cause when I make chocolate cookies, they're gone the next day. So here is your food porn:
And here is the recipe:
Marshmallow Layer
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
7 oz. marshmallow fluff
Crust
1 cup crushed Oreos (10 cookies)
1/2 cup peanuts, chopped
1/4 cup butter, softened
Topping
36 caramels, unwrapped
3 tablespoons milk
1 cup peanuts, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup chocolate chips, melted
1. Medium bowl combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar and marshmallow fluff. Blend. Sprinkle surface with sugar and knead in remaining 2 cups. (I would recommend covering your hands with powdered sugar. The fluff sticks to your hand otherwise!) Shape into 7 1/2 in. square. Cover with plastic and set aside.
2. Heat oven to 350. Line 8 in. square pan with foil. Small bowl combine crust ingredients. Press evenly in pan. Bake 10 minutes. Place uncovered marshmallow square on hot crust.
3. Medium saucepan over low heat, heat caramels and milk until they melt together while stirring. Pour over marshmallow and immediately sprinkle with peanuts. Cool 1 hour and cut bars. Store in frige.
Enjoy! I'm eating one now!!!

She & Him: Don't Look Back
She & Him - Don't Look Back from Merge Records on Vimeo.
I came across this video the other day and I am totally smitten. For one, its She & Him, which is half Zooey Deschanel. I've never really been into this music, but because she"s involved I love it. She's so adorable it kills me! This song is actually pretty good, though. Its catchy and its got a vintage feel. The real reason I'm sharing it is because the furniture. Oh my god, its amazing! I love the boxy wooden couch and shelving! I really need to find this stuff somewhere! Well, after I find the money to pay for it!

Icons of Music by RedRobotCreative
I was searching through Etsy the other day and found this shop by RedRobotCreative. Aren't these prints so awesome?! I love all the bright colors and patterns the artist has used in the pieces. Not to mention the subject matter. I am really thinking about getting the Stevie Wonder one. My husband and I share a deep love for him and his music and it would be a great addition to our home! It gives off such a 70s funky feeling. I also really like the Frank Sinatra one for the midcentury inspired background. Decisions, decisions. Maybe my husband could make it for me and get it for Valentine's Day (hint, hint, Dan). Which is your favorite?
