***If you have never checked out Lena Hoschek's collections, you need to get on that!  She has AMAZING pieces.  They are kind of expensive, but they are so pretty to look at.  Especially her lookbooks.  You can also go to the website and get a free poster.  She puts one out with each collection and on the back of the poster is the catalog!  So cool!***

I had to put together a little spring inspiration this morning because its going to be 55 degrees outside today and I can't wait to take the kids to the park!  That sounds so weird of me to say, but it has been in the 20s and 30s lately and even snowing, so I will take 55 over that any day!  My mood has been less than great lately and the weather may have something to do with it.  I will be in North Carolina for 3 weeks soon enjoying the warm weather and won't be back to the Twin Cities until mid-April.  Hopefully by then it will be really nice out!  I just might have to do this every year to battle the end-of-winter-blues (and not saying blues because winter is over, but because it drags out so long).  Hope all these awesome things are getting you into the mood for Spring!  I am ready!

I came across these photos awhile ago and they still amaze me so much.  Photographer Irina Werning has recreated old vintage photographs to a T in this collection called Back to the Future.  Everything in them is so much like the original its insane!  Even down to the blurriness and exposure.  These are so adorable and really make me want to try and do some myself.  I really doubt I could get as close as she as done.  I love the little nerdy guy and his older self!!!  Which do you like?

If you would like to try it yourself and want to show the world, go to Young Me/Now Me and submit your photos!

She & Him: Don't Look Back

She & Him - Don't Look Back from Merge Records on Vimeo.

I came across this video the other day and I am totally smitten.  For one, its She & Him, which is half Zooey Deschanel.  I've never really been into this music, but because she"s involved I love it.  She's so adorable it kills me!  This song is actually pretty good, though.  Its  catchy and its got a vintage feel.  The real reason I'm sharing it is because the furniture.  Oh my god, its amazing!  I love the boxy wooden couch and shelving!  I really need to find this stuff somewhere!  Well, after I find the money to pay for it!

Big Score!

pyrex golden harvest
The other day we took a trip to Goodwill because we needed a couple of extra plates, because we always ran out during our dinner parties.  My husband and I picked through everything and I could not believe what I found.  These 3 Pyrex dishes were sitting together stacked and no one had shown any interest at all.  They were at the back of the shelf with a matching butter dish.  I had to get them.  I already had the Golden Harvest butter dish, so I just picked up these bowls.  I now regret not getting the that dish.  I can hear it calling my name.  I should have saved it and given it to a good home!  I am going to start collecting pieces for the vintage adoption agency I am starting.  Cause, honestly, I have treated these Pyrex dishes like they were children.

Edit:  Can't believe I didn't share the price of these!  They were 4 bucks each, so I got the whole set for 12 bucks!

The Greatest Picture Ever Taken

For those of you who have followed my blog for awhile, you may know that I find Ryan Gosling and Jake Gylkhkjghfgfsbghaal incredibly attractive.  Ryan Gosling was so easy to fall in love with in "The Notebook" and Jake G. has the best pair are dark, coarse, bushy eyebrows I have ever seen...  Well, aside from my husband.  I have a think for bushy eyebrows.  Is that strange?  But really only if they're paired with some pretty blue eyes.  Sigh. Anyways...

That is absolutely wonderful.  I hope that brightened your day like it did mine!

Tattooed Women

Nowadays, tattoos are pretty much a dime a dozen.  Teachers, doctors, and even some preachers have given in and gotten them.  My mom has even mentioned a couple of times of maybe getting one is the future!  Tattoos are gradually getting more and more accepted everyday, and I think its wonderful.  But this post is all about the women back in the day that were tattooed, not because it was cool or they wanted to fit in, but because they themselves thought it was beautiful.  I can't even imagine how hard it was for these girls to walk around with the tattoos that they did.  Society has come a long way since then, so let's take a minute and admire these pioneers for dealing with all the crap that we don't have to deal with today!

I usually post the tattoo related stuff on Tuesday, but I came across one of these photos last night and couldn't help but post them today.  They're amazing!

I would give anything to be swimming in this Singapore hotel pool right now.

I wish I knew what they were saying so I could know more about this artist!  It looks like he uses glue and glitter to create this painting!

I made pop-up books when I was a kid, so this tutorial on how to make a pop-up flower card is so nostalgic!

This commercial about wearing your seat belt, literally, just made me cry.

Friday Flavor: Honeydew

friday flavor the tattooed housewife

Here's the second edition of Friday Flavor!  I have to say, I really like doing these posts.  I get to browse the internet and end up finding sssooo many awesome pictures I wouldn't have otherwise.

My favorite summer color is green.  Especially ones on the lighter side or with a hint of yellow.  Just like the color of honeydew.  Just thinking about it makes me cool off in the summer heat.  I have also had a pretty strong craving for honeydew, so maybe that is where it came from!

cadillac
This is my dream car.  A Cadillac Deville.  Sigh.  It is so beautiful.  I really hope one day I can buy one of these and ride around town.  Although, a car like this in Minnesota would stay parked in the garage for half the year.

chest
I'm going to redo some furniture like this whenever I move.  It adds so much to a room!
umbrellasunglasses
This umbrella and pair of sunglasses are amazing.  I need to accessorize more.  I would love to use an umbrella or big floppy hat in the summer, but not sure if I could pull it off.
zara pantshonewdew nail polish
I've mentioned Zara before.  They have the best clothing I have ever seen.  I wish I had thousands of dollars to buy the entire collection.  I really want to add more bold colors to my wardrobe, and these pants would be perfect.  Also, this nailpolish.

pinup clothing dress
This is such a cute, simple dress from Pinup Girl Clothing!  I love button-up dresses!
honeydew eyeshadowbathing suit
I LOVE green eyeshadow!!!  I want this bathing suit!  Maybe next summer!
old doors
Old painted doors like these are so pretty.  I want to paint my house's door with some kind of bright color.

bicycle
I am going to buy a bike whenever we move to the Twin Cities.  It is the friendliest bike town in the country, so I might as well take advantage.  Except, I'm going to need two baby seats.  Is that even possible on bikes?

Do you have any colors that are inspiring you right now for summer?

Daydreams - Tree Houses

daydreams the tattooed housewife

Since the weather here in North Carolina has been unbearably hot, me and my daughter haven't really been able to go outside.  Its too hot for me, and definitely too hot for her, unless we want to go to the park at 7 in the morning.  Not going to happen.  There's no kids!

I have been dreaming about living in a house that's in a tree.  I was all about that old Disney movie "The Swiss Family Robinson" when I was younger.  The house they made was amazing!  And it was incredible they built it out of nothing.  These houses I have found around the internet reminded me of the movie and would be so perfect.  Especially the Victorian styles.  They are so beautiful!

This last one is so gorgeous.  I bet it is so awesome to sleep here with all the outdoor sounds.  I bet its paradise when its raining.

Where do you go when its too hot outside?  Do you have a cool tree house like these?  If you do, I want pictures!
